Geaux Fish Privacy Policy
Effective date / Last updated:
1. About this policy
Geaux Fish Technologies LLC, doing business as Geaux Fish (we, our, or us), operates from Lafayette, Louisiana, USA. This policy covers the Geaux Fish fishing-planning apps for Android and iOS, our business portal, and the supporting website at geaux.fish (the Services).
The mobile apps let you explore waters and build fishing plans without creating a Geaux Fish account. Businesses sign in to manage their listings, offers, team access, and billing. We process the information described below to provide those features, administer purchases, understand usage, respond to requests, and protect the Services.
2. Fishing plans and information on your device
We receive the waterbody, date, fishing window, and target species you select when requesting a fishing plan. We use those choices with available conditions and catalog information to provide presentations and fishing guidance. If you ask a follow-up question, we process the question, relevant plan details, and recent conversation to answer it.
The apps store information locally to support your experience, including saved waters, preferences, and plan conversations. Android also saves cached reports and the last plan so they can be restored when you reopen the app. App and subscription providers maintain identifiers used for analytics and purchase access.
Conversation controls let you clear saved chat. Android also lets you clear app storage through device settings; its app-private saved data is excluded from cloud backup and device transfer. Removing local data does not delete records already processed by our backend or providers, and does not cancel a subscription.
3. Selected waters and maps
Selecting a fishing destination is different from sharing your device location. The current Android and iOS planning apps do not request device GPS permission or collect your device's precise GPS location. They do not continuously track your movements.
We process the waterbody you choose and use its catalog coordinates to request weather from Visual Crossing. A selected waterbody identifies where you want fishing information; it does not establish where you are physically located.
- iOS: Apple MapKit supplies maps of selected waters and businesses. Apple receives map requests. Opening a destination in Apple Maps passes the selected destination to Apple.
- Android: MapLibre displays maps using OpenFreeMap tiles in the current configuration. The map host receives network requests for the areas you view. Opening directions passes the destination to your chosen maps app, with a Google Maps website fallback if no app handles the link.
External maps apps and websites apply their own privacy policies and location permissions. Their use of device location is separate from Geaux Fish's planning inputs. Avoid including precise personal locations or other sensitive details in questions or feedback when they are unnecessary.
4. AI processing
We use OpenAI APIs to help rank fishing presentations using the selected waterbody, date, fishing window, target species, available conditions, and relevant catalog material. For plan follow-up chat, OpenAI receives the question, relevant plan context, and up to 10 recent conversation messages.
AI may also assist with drafting or structuring lure and presentation catalog content. Geaux Fish reviews that material before publication and makes the final catalog publication decisions. Automated plan rankings and chat answers are not necessarily reviewed by a person before you receive them.
The plan and chat integrations request that OpenAI not store responses as retrievable API application records. This does not establish a deletion period for all provider logs or determine every provider data-use setting.
5. Product analytics, feedback, and errors
Geaux Fish uses PostHog for product analytics. Where configured in a mobile release, it helps us understand app usage, plan creation, feature usage, errors, whether people return, and how to improve the product. It also supports feature availability and experiments.
Analytics include generated device/analytics and session identifiers, event times, app and device information, screen views, and interaction events. Explicit events in both apps include waterbody and species identifiers, fishing windows, plan identifiers, favorite changes, counts, Pro access status, and plan or chat success and failure. iOS also records purchase, restore, and paywall outcomes. Identifiers can connect activity across sessions, so this information is not fully anonymous. Our product events do not identify you by name or email.
Explicit analytics events report search lengths and conversation counts rather than search or question text. Optional iOS surveys collect the answers you choose to submit and associate them with the analytics identifier. You may skip them. Session replay is disabled in the current Android and iOS analytics configuration.
The backend reports errors and diagnostic context to PostHog, including the operation, environment, request identifier, method, path, and authentication status. iOS requests to Geaux Fish API hosts include analytics tracing information to help correlate backend errors with an app session. Operational logs may also contain error details. We use these records to investigate reliability and performance problems.
6. Business portal and communications
Business applications and portal use provide information you submit, such as business and contact names, email, phone number, address, website, description, logo, listings, offers, and redemption reports. Published listing and offer information is visible to app users.
Clerk handles portal authentication. We process identity identifiers, names and email addresses, business membership and role information, and administrative activity to manage access and keep business records. The portal stores application-status access information in your browser. Authentication may use cookies and browser storage.
We process support, privacy, and business correspondence to respond and maintain appropriate records. Amazon SES sends partner transactional messages, such as application confirmations and account-claim links. Delivery, failure, bounce, and complaint information helps us operate those communications.
7. Mobile purchases and business billing
- iOS purchases: Apple processes App Store payments.
- Android purchases: Google processes Google Play payments where purchases are available.
- Mobile subscription access: RevenueCat processes app user identifiers, purchase and transaction records, products, subscription status and lifecycle information, and app/device information to validate purchases, restore access, and manage paid features. Our backend receives the RevenueCat app user identifier to check Pro access.
- Business billing: Stripe handles partner checkout and subscription billing. Geaux Fish processes business/customer and subscription identifiers, selected plans, billing periods and status, payment failures, and cancellation information to administer the business relationship.
Apple, Google, and Stripe handle the full payment details entered into their payment flows. Geaux Fish does not receive full payment-card details through these integrations. Accountless mobile use still involves subscription identifiers and purchase records.
8. Partner offers and affiliate measurement
Businesses may pay for visibility, listings, promotions, offers, or sponsorships. Payment does not determine the underlying fishing recommendation. Paid or sponsored placements should be identifiable where appropriate.
Geaux Fish may earn a commission when you purchase through certain links. This does not affect our fishing recommendations.
The apps report participating listing and offer views and use measured outbound links. Our backend records the business, offer or link, event time, placement source, and, for clicks when available, the referring website's hostname. It derives a daily visitor identifier from IP address and browser/app user-agent information to measure visits. That identifier is not the raw IP address, but it is not fully anonymous.
Business dashboards show aggregated performance counts and authorized redemption reports. When you follow a retailer or affiliate link, the destination receives a network request and may use referral codes, cookies, or other attribution under its own policy.
9. Website, network information, and recipients
The public website uses Umami Cloud for page views and interactions, such as viewed sections and clicks on navigation, download, social, and support links. Custom events include placement and destination labels. Umami describes its standard tracker as cookie-free and reports page/referrer, browser, operating-system, device-type, and country information; see its measurement FAQ. The site does not load Umami on the enabled business portal or staff administration pages.
Our website, API, map hosts, and other providers receive IP/network information to deliver requests. Our API also uses IP addresses for abuse prevention and request limiting. Hosting and diagnostic systems may retain request and error records. Browser controls can clear cookies and site storage or block scripts, but may interrupt sign-in or application tracking. Those controls do not control mobile analytics.
Recipients for the functions described in this policy include AWS for infrastructure and partner email; Render for website hosting; OpenAI for AI processing; Visual Crossing for forecasts; Apple for iOS maps and purchases; Google for Android purchases and Google Maps links; OpenFreeMap for Android map delivery; RevenueCat for mobile purchase access; PostHog for analytics, feedback and diagnostics; Umami for website measurement; Clerk for portal identity; and Stripe for business billing. Each receives information relevant to the function it provides.
Published business content is public. Participating businesses receive the reports described above, and external destinations handle direct interactions under their own policies. We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, address abuse or safety issues, resolve disputes, or complete a business transfer with appropriate protections.
10. Retention and security
We retain information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described, subject to applicable legal, accounting, security, dispute, and operational requirements. Data types and providers have different retention needs. Expiry of a cached plan does not establish a deletion period for analytics, billing, logs, backups, or provider records. Local conversations have message-count limits but no automatic time-based expiry in the current apps.
We use technical safeguards such as authenticated portal access, permission checks, request validation, and signed billing webhooks, together with administrative and organizational measures to manage access to information. No system can guarantee absolute security.
11. Your choices and privacy requests
Contact support@geaux.fish to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your information, or to ask a privacy question. We may request limited information to verify your authority and locate records, such as an app or subscription identifier. Do not send passwords or full payment-card details. We will explain any limits on locating or deleting information.
Where applicable law grants additional rights, these may include a portable copy, an authorized-agent request, an appeal, or an opt-out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising. Use the same contact channel for these requests. We do not retaliate for exercising applicable privacy rights. Rights and obligations depend on each law's scope, effective date, and applicability; this policy does not assert that every state privacy statute applies to Geaux Fish.
You can skip optional surveys, clear saved conversations, and use browser or device controls. Deleting information or uninstalling an app does not cancel billing. Manage App Store subscriptions with Apple, Google Play subscriptions with Google, and business subscriptions through the business portal's billing tools.
12. Children, updates, and contact
Geaux Fish is not directed to children under 13. Our Terms require users to be at least 13 and require parent or guardian agreement for minors. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has provided information so we can investigate and take appropriate action, including deletion where required.
We may update this policy as the Services or law changes. We will post an updated date and provide additional notice when required.
